High Point VHS Questions
What Triad callers ask most about video transfer: how tapes reach us, which towns we cover, what a box of VHS costs, and how large archives are handled.
Most Guilford County customers get their old home movies to us by tracked shipping, and we will give you the shipping address when you call. Our transfer work is centralized in Matthews, near Charlotte, so mail-in is the normal route from the Triad and costs the same per tape.
If a drive down I-85 is already planned, you are welcome to drop the box at our Matthews location instead. Either route puts your video on the same equipment, returns the same digitized videos, and sends your original tapes back to you. Call (336) 962-7883 with questions.
High Point itself plus the rest of Guilford County — Jamestown, Greensboro, Oak Ridge, Summerfield, Stokesdale, Gibsonville, Pleasant Garden and Sedalia — along with Thomasville, Lexington and Wallburg in Davidson County, Winston-Salem, Kernersville and Clemmons over in Forsyth, and Archdale, Trinity and Randleman down in Randolph.
Because analog media travels by mail rather than by truck, your address does not really limit the digital conversion at all. Families across both Carolinas send family videos through the same process, and a box of video from Jamestown is treated no differently than one from Matthews.
Tapes are $20 each for one to five, $18 each for six to nineteen, and $15 each at twenty or more, so a full box works out cheaper per tape than a couple. Reel-to-reel film is priced separately at $30 per reel. A flash drive runs $9 to $25 depending on how much video it has to hold, or you can bring an unopened drive of your own.
Price does not change with video quality — a clean tape and a badly worn one cost the same to run, and both come back as MP4 video in the same digital format. Quotes are free and there is no contract to sign. Once your digital copies are made and you are finished with the originals, secure destruction and recycling of the tapes is an optional add-on at 10% of the job cost.
Yes, and volume is where the pricing gets friendliest. High Point churches, schools, universities, furniture manufacturers and law firms tend to surface a closet of old VHS tapes nobody has been able to play in fifteen years, and anything over twenty tapes lands at the lowest per-tape rate for digital conversion. Mixed formats are fine, and we can convert VHS tapes alongside Betamax, Hi8 and MiniDV in one order.
Larger projects usually pair with something else on the list, whether that is microfilm, paper records, or destroying the old drives the video was eventually copied onto. Call (336) 962-7883, tell us roughly how many tapes you found, and we will quote the whole archive at once.
