Larger jobs are often quoted by the container instead: one 95-gallon bin holds roughly eight to ten banker boxes, or up to 300 pounds.

No. Staples, paper clips, binder clips, and rubber bands all go through our shredders, so there is no need to spend an afternoon pulling them out. Manila folders and hanging folders are fine too.

We also take material most shredders refuse: manuals, books, hardcover binders, floppy disks, CD-ROMs, DVDs, backup tapes, and even medical pill bottles. Hard drives, X-ray film, and branded uniforms are all destroyed as well, though each is handled as its own service rather than mixed into a paper load. The one place the rules tighten is a community shred event, where the truck can only take paper: no plastic binders, laminated pages, X-rays, or electronics.

If the pile is small, you can drop it off at our Matthews location instead, or use the Bizxpress drop-off point on Weddington Road, which is open Saturday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. You get the same Certificate of Destruction a business gets. Residents also come to us to digitize old family photos, slides, and VHS tapes.
